My toilet used to work well, now when it hasn't been used in a couple of hours there is barely any water in the bowl.
When I flush it once the water comes in and allows me to flush normally to remove the waste in the toilet.
Can anyone help me with this problem, thank you

There's nothing wrong with your drain, and you can fix this for less than $20... easy.
Sounds like your float is rubbing on the inside of the tank and it's getting stuck in the "up" position until you hit it with the flush lever.

Definitely, either you have that problem, which you should be able to fix by adjusting the height of the float (if you have a newer model), or the string attached to the rubber flap at the bottom of the tank is too long.
If you have an older model, you can buy the entire assembly at home depot for less than $20, and it is very fast and easy to install. I even let my wife install it so she'd feel good about herself ;-)

Toilet Takes Two Flushes

First thing to check is a small tube inside your tank. It should run from the ballcock valve (tall piece the float arm attaches to) and run into the overflow tube. This helps fill the bowl after the flush. Make sure it is going in the overflow tube and hasn't slipped out and just filling the tank now.
Second thing to check is your tank water level. Ther is usually a mark on the overflow tube to indicate full. You should be close to this mark before you flush.
Lastly, flush the toilet with the lid off the tank and watch what's going on. You could have a bad ballcock valve, or your flapper valve could be closing early, giving you a partial flush instead of a full flush.

Get a plunger - it will help to clear out anything that may be clogged up in the pipes. If you don't do this now, eventually you may end up with an overflow. We had this EXACT same problem (water low in the bowl) and that's what happened (overflow) but the plunger helped! Good luck.

The water is draining out of the bowl, that means the siphon effect of the internal U joint is not holdling water. Soungs like you may have a cracked fixture.

My guess is you will have to take the bowl off and either seal the crack, or replace it. You will have to have a wax seal to replace it, don't try to reuse it!
