i think one of the reasons they want to reinstate it is because of all the u.s. casualties and they dont have as many people enlisting as before. it should stay on a volunteer basis. i understand if you have a calling and want to defend your country, thats all good and i support my troops but i dont support unneccessary fighting. dont try to make it mandatory because you are losing so many troops, civilians. but thats just my opinion.

Some people claim that with a draft some of the Senators and Representatives kids would be drafted, making them a little slower on jumping in when understaffed and without proper protection and planning ahead of time.
How quick they are to forget all the deferments granted to those same types of people during Vietnam War. The ones that did enter were REMF's (Rear Echelon Mutha F*&$%^) for the most part, out of harms way. If this could be changed, they'd have a point. Without change it would just give them more fodder to care very little about, and expand the war.

The draft is a wrong idea. It will never go with the American people. It is wrong to force someone to fight in an illegal war like Iraq. However, if we were attacked by a country then I can see it to protect this country.
