Different oceans have different temperatures, currents and salt levels, and even characteristics, which make each of them seperate, and makes it difficult for the two to combine. The Pacific is (as the name suggests) far more peaceful than the Atlantic or the Arctic oceans are.

Bcoz now you know that these are connected. But, earlier people didn't know that. For them Ocean was something different at different places. Besides that all roads in a city are connected somhow. Why not these have same name.

why have the states of America got different names when they're all joined together
why don't we just call our bodies "body" rather than naming all the bits... after all they're all joined together
why don't we call all the streets in a city the same name... they all join up, don't they?
answer these questions and maybe you'll be closer to answering your own
