You know, like back in the day...the catburglar would wear a black spandex outfit, with black zorro mask, and black beenie hat. He would also tip toe around everywhere and burglarize houses. How come i never see these guys tip toeing around at night trying to steal stuff? Did this fad die in the 50's?

Maybe it is because Americans are generally a bit larger than in the 50s, and while black is suppose to be slimming, spandex just isn't a flattering look for some of us. And why both leaving the house to burgle a place when you can hack into their computer & transfer tons of money electronicly?

I think he went out of business in the 70's when people started to put bars on their windows, bought security doors and installed burglar alarms.

No respectful burglar is going to come to your home with some high tech gagetry to turn off your alarm so that he can steal your DVD player.

Furthermore, all our gadgets have become so cheap these days that they are not worth stealing.

The catburglar outfit did serve the purpose of not being recognised. But today, the police would find half a dozen ways to identify you if you were sloppy. However, the police cannot be bother as they have bigger fishes to catch.

I'm pretty sure they're still around, though the practice of breaking and entering by means of climbing a high-rise building was probably never as widespread as fiction writers wanted us to think; most successful burglars become successful by developing a survival instinct, and breaking in through the front door is a lot safer than climbing a building. Of course, with better security systems available now, this occupation may increasingly become a thing of the past.

burgarars have not diminished, those who steal cats may have faded, the uniform for burgars has changed now its reebok or nike this is the preferred footwear, together with trackie bottoms and a sweat top with hood, dont acost him or you may traumatize him, remember he comes from a disfunctional family background, he may take exception to being called rude names and you could end up being taken before the courts. your best course of action is to escort him through the door by asking him to leave, do not offer violence or vebally assault him, he has rights too. They seem to be a thing of the past. How sad. That character had a lot of style, compared the most current criminals.
