look there and you can pick character traits that go with that name. personally I like Jasmine for a girl (it seems to go with isabella, in my mind anyway) and Patrick (same).

Amazing.

Use the names:

Sally
Jamie
Jackie
Holly
Molly

and

Chad
Brad
Fred
Chet

Those are the best names ever and will aid the reader to distinguish between the 10 characters surrounding the book that should never have been written.

www.behindthename.com may give you some ideas---just run a search on name meanings, msculine names, feminine names, names from a certain language, or whatever the hell else you want. You could also browse one of theose 'name your baby' books.

When a person writes a character, it's often the first name, or one of the first names, that just feels so 'right'for a character...at least, that's how it works with me. When I research another writer's character name, I very often find that the name's meaning is either

1)ironic for that character to have

or

2) totally perfect for that character to have.

Probably more often, writers just happen to pick names that they really, really like. Why not do that? It's just another way of leaving your very own mark on your very own story. :)

I agree with adriana. you can add lots of characters, but don't make them overlap or interact with one another in the same scene too often, and also don't bring up a lot of them all the time. it's okay to have minor members of your cast.

but here are my picks, not including 'isabella', obviously:
1) christine
2) meredith
3) amy
4) emily
5) melissa

1) anthony
2) jake
3) mike
4) brian

You have many choices here already; be sure none of the names are too alike or readers may get them confused. Good luck.
