The best way to eliminate constipation is to increase the fiber in your diet. You should be having regular bowel movement 2 to 3 times a day. Try increasing your fruits and vegetable. Food such a figs, raisins, broccoli and banana are great foods that can increase the amount of fiber very quickly. Also drink plenty of filtered water when consuming these fiberous food it will just help it work in a more efficient manor.
There are also many herbs and products some using phylum and other herbs like slippery elm barks that can help with the elimination process.
One last things sometime when you increase your fiber intake it can cause feeling of discomfort. If this happens just decrease the amount of daily fiber, drink plenty of water and gradually increase it. Like I said figs and other dried fruit and nuts are great along with other fruits and veggies will definitely help.
Be Healthy

Here is a list of several fruits/veggies that are great for constipation:
Dried apricots, daily: they're gentler than prunes.
Broccoli: cook it lightly, and eat it stems and all.
Sauerkraut juice: drink one can every morning.
Eggplant: everyday.
Kiwi with every meal: eat the skin, too.
Onions.
Papaya: eat it regularly.
Parsley at every meal.
Radishes.
Nutri-Sense: it is a powdered drink, have three tablespoons in some water or juice once or twice a day.
Wild rice: daily.
I guess you could have your pick of any of these, they all help a lot!

Eating prunes, eating a high fiber diet, drink lots of water, and you can take mineral oil for extended period of time verses other laxatives, also they have that new yogurt, dont know if it works but it is in the Grocery stores, called Activa, I may be wrong but I think its made by Dannon, you can try taking fiber supplemnts for a week or two, but modifing what you eat now is the healthiest way to go.

When constipation results from a faulty diet, the patient should eat more green vegetables, fruits, whole grain bread and cereals, and other foods with fiber. The patient also should drink ample quantities of water. Constipation may be a symptom of a serious disease. If it persists, or is accompanied by rectal bleeding, it should be investigated by a physician.
Happy thanks giving !

Two tablespoons of mineral oil, it will keep you oiled. Works wonders for my kid who used to always be constipated. His peditrician recommended this. Take at bedtime, or in the morning everyday until you get yourself regulated.
