When running away from a guard-dog, you don't have to faster then the dog just faster then one of your friends.

I thinks it's an old sentiment, but true. If you don't like your 'friends'. I wouldn't leave a real friend behind.
fyi: the best way to get a guard dog, is wear big shoes; let it get your shoe, and STEP DOWN ON IT. I nearly killed a rott once that way - he was trying to kill my cat. I also took the stupid dog to the vet afterwards.
