i found a coin that looks like a penny; the only thing i can make out is in god we trust, but it is the size of a dime.

There used to be half-cent, large cent (same as a penny but obsolute), 2 cents, 3 cents, half-dime (5 cents), and 20 cent pieces. The one you have is probably a half-cent piece or a 2 cent piece. Hang on to that, buddy, it's worth a lot.

Does it look like either of the images on the links below? It's one or the other.

More information is needed. What color is it? What appears to be on the front and back of the coin? Is it magnetic? Is the edge smooth or reeded (like a dime)?

It could be a mule...a penny struck on a dime blank...which COULD have some value to a collector.

I am not sure what that is but I have a tax token. It was used when a penny was worth allot. It is the size of a dime and the color of a penny.

It could be anything. Someone that was bored, could have taken a cent and used a grinder on it. It could be a token or a medalette. You don't have enough info to come up with what it is. More often than not, it is a coin someone fooled around with after it left the mint.
