i know that if you are beside the king he could capture you unless you have protection but wut is considered protection?

if your king is in check then you need to escape from getting check. if any king in play got surround that is a check mate. any king get check mate the game is over(the king cant escape from check). if your king get check mate you lose.

A chess peice is protected from a king by being in a position to where if the king were to move to that position it would be exposed to another peice's attack and thereby be in check.
For a king to be checkmated it must be in check and have no way to move to where it isnt free from direct attack.

first of all you need to know that in chess there is different movement from the different position.for example,king can only move 1 step but queen can move in any direction.so when check happen to the king and it cant move to any direction it consider check mate.protection can be made depend on the position and the movement of the stone.sorry my english not so good..
