no, i don't think so. because in picking on your own issues, you are giving others the idea it is okay to pick on people with the same issues you are making jokes about.

for example if you are overweight and make cracks about it you are leaving the door wide open for others to not only make fun of you but other people who are heavier than average.

same with eyeglasses, missing a limb, bald, etc. making jokes about it just reinforces the idea that its okay to pick on those who are different from the 'beautiful people'.

we are what we are, and we should accept and respect what we are.

if you don't show respect for yourself - who else will?

Generally, no. It depends on your audience. If you're working with grade school kids or fratboys, body comedy or slapstick humor may be your only option. If your working with a high-brow audience, footballs to the crotch will only get you so far. Verbal wit and brilliant associations with seemingly non-related phenomenon will win the approval of the crowd, set you apart from other would-be comedians, and most importantly, keep your dignity intact.

Well first ask yourself these questions:
Do you have a family...Would you like one?...Do you have the ability to do anything else with your time?...Do you have any skills?...Yes to any of these and you might want to rethink it...no, then go for it!
