G'day A B,

Thank you for your question.

The end of World War I saw the US recognised as a major power for the first time. It became the world's greatest creditor unlike today. It had relatively few casualties with 53,402 battle deaths and 63,114 other deaths in service.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards

We came in late in WWI and in all honesty it was as much for show as anything else.. the US wasn't considered a superpower then.. a world power yes, but not a superpower and in all honesty the War would have most likely ended the same weather we were involved or not.. i don't know if i could call it a failure or not.. something I'll have to think on longer... now, the rapid democratization that happened after WWI is a large part of what brought about WWII... so the Policy set in place after WWI was definitely a failure.

The involvement of the US in WW I of course was a turning point in that war, which led to the victory of the allied forces. In the peace treaty of Versailles a few points were clearly influenced by the US, like the right of peoples to have their own state. It was the beginning of the USA as a political and economical world power and a (temporary) end to american isolationism. After the war the financial heart of the world shifted from London to New York.

Every war the Us has been involved in or started has been a policy failure. Unfortunately, citizens other than Americans have had to pay the price.

It was a failure by the entire world, not just the US. It was the war to end all wars. Accomplished a lot didn't it.

Of course there are those who will say today if we'd have stayed out of it we wouldn't have had WWII.

It showed the Germans they could kill our people and not have us join in and kick their butts.
