We always have it at my parent's house. Me and my boyfriend, my maternal grandparents, two aunts and their husbands, three teenage boys (step cousins), and my 18 month old cousin. My brother is stationed at Fort Knox, so he won't be there. We will gather all of the food in the kitchen and take lots of pictures before we all dig in. (yes, we are very proud of our food!!!)

The ritual at my parents' house is that family and friends gather for a big feast. There are always a couple of different guests who, for one reason or another, join us on that day -- usually people who are just a couple, or whose children are off at college. My Mom usually invites other families who may be new to our town also. It usually tops out around 18 - 20 people.

For me, Thanksgiving is more about inviting people who don't have a particular place to go. When I lived in New York, my sisters and I would invite anyone who was alone in the city and wanted to be in a cozy environment. Our guest list was different every year, and I thought that was totally fun. It grew out of the fact that we were in New York, and our parents were in North Dakota, and it was too expensive to fly us all home for the weekend when we'd be coming out for Christmas anyway.

So in the tradition of my family, I am going home to North Dakota tomorrow with my fiance and a friend who otherwise would be alone on Thanksgiving.
