There are alot of small animals there are rodents and some reptiles can be classed as that as well
All rodents need a home-
Wire cages are good for ventilation but some bars are to widly spread so the pet can get out! Wood chips also go everywhere unless it has a deep tray!
Rotastak cages are excelent. They are basically plastic cages with tubes that can be moved to anywhere in the cage. They are quite pricey though!
Aquariums are not so good as it does not provide enough ventilation but for gerbils its good if it has a mesh top as they love to make tunnels.
Wooden boxes are bad for rodents as they can chew through it and escape.
Carefresh is actually better than sawdust as it eliminates odor and saves the trees (not made from trees) but if you still want to use woodchips fine!
Water should always be supplied in a drip bottle because rodents tend to urinate and tip over the bowls of water. most rodents do not drink much so dont woory if you find they dont.
Gerbils
Gerbils are good pets. They are friendly and exicing. They love to burrow so maybe an aqurium would be best. They eat rodent food or specially designed gerbil food. In the cage you can put deep sawdust, bedding (shredded tissue paper), food, Water from a drip bottle, maybe some branches to climb and chew on and some toys. they are social so need to be kept in pairs.
Hamsters
Hamsters are popular pets and can be kept in any of the above cages. There are many hamster breeds some of them are: Chinese hamster, dwarf hamster, syrian hamster. There are lots of hamster foods avalible on the market. In the cage it would be good if you put a wood block so they can have somthing to chew on. hamsters love to roll around in a run-around-ball but dont leave them in their for too long. They enjoy an excercise wheel in their cage. They must be kept by themselves as they are solitary but dwarf and chinease can be kept in pairs.
Mice
I personally have mice and i love them. They can be kept in any of the above cages but be careful with wire cages as they can squeeze through the tiniest of spaces! They eat rodent food or specially prepared mouse food. They are very curious and love it if you can chance the setup of the cage now and again. They need a chew block to keep their teeth in shape. they love hamster balls and wheels. Toilet roll tubes are appreicated as a toy.
Rats
rats are very friendly and not like the wild breed vermin. they crave human attention. and love to be let out of the cage. they can learn their names and do tricks like a dog. They need to be kept in a big cage which can be very expensive preferably more than 1 level. Wire is best.
RAts are social and need t be kept in pairs or more. Males are bigger and a bit lazier. Females are smaller and more "hyper" lol They eat rat food or rodent (try to get rat)
Chinchilla
Chinchillas are expensive. They need a dust bath a few times a week the dust can go every where.
The need a big cage with branches. Chinchilla food is a must. they are friendly but they are bigger than most other rodents. They can be let out to run but they chew on everything and poop everywhere. iF you handle them roughly there fun the get messy.
Guinea pig
Do not feed your guinea pig rabbit food, even if it's cheaper! It's not the same! Unlike rabbit food, guinea pig food contains vitamin C, which is vital for a guinea pig's health. Its good to feed them oranges sometimes. You can let them out for a run you can even put then in a run in the garden like for a rabbit they will enjoy grazing on the grass.
Which ever pet you decide to get reasearch it first and i hope you enjoy your time together!

That depends on what kind of care you're able and willing to provide, how much space you have, how much attention you want to give daily, the availability of proper food and vet care for a particular species, what kind of lifespan you're looking to commit to, natural behaviors you can handle, and which exotic animals are even legal wherever you live. A pig, a duck, and a hedgehog are all very different animals and are not going to have interchangeable requirements, and just because you want an exotic animal does not mean you'd be able to care for just any random species.

Depends on what you want a pet for. If you want cuddly, but something that needs a lot of work, or something you can just watch and occasionally play with, but doesn't need as much time.
Just ask yourself these questions:
Do I have the time?
Do I have experience to be owning this?
Do I have money if it needs vet care?
How often will I be needing to clean up after it?
Who is going to watch it if I am away?
good luck on your search

Ferrets are wonderful. They are adorable, mischevious, curious, loving, & did I mention adorable ? However; they require a lot of attention, cleaning, & are a tad bit expensive. When purchasing my first ferret we spent at least $300. Just be sure you have the time, patience, willingness to clean, & personality.
