.
1. Open Word
2. Type in your formula using normal numbers.
Example: H2O cm^3
3. Highlight the part you want made smaller
at the bottom, such as the 2
4. On the Word tool bar above click the button FORMAT > then click FONT
5. In the window Font > in the Frame EFFECTS
put a check mark in SUBscript.

6. for the formula where you want the 3 above
highlight the 3 that you want made smaller-above
in the Frame EFFECT
put a check mark in the SUPERscript.

In Word, to insert a special character, click where you want to insert the character. On the Insert menu, click Symbol, and then click the Special Characters tab. Double-click the character you want to insert. Click Close

You can add superscript (above the line) or subscript (below the line) for forumulas and calculations.

In PowerPoint: to type ¢, £, ¥, & ®, and other characters not on the keyboard do one of the following:

For Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition, or Windows 98:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Character Map.

For Windows NT 4.0, which includes XP: Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Character Map.

Note If Character Map is not available, see Windows Help for information about how to install a Windows component.

In the Font box, click the character you want. If you don't see the character you want, try selecting another font in the Font box.
Click Select, and then click Copy .
Switch to your document, and then place the insertion point where you want to paste the character.
Click Paste .
If the character looks different from the one you selected, select the character and apply the same font you selected in Character Map.

Tip: Character Map shows the key combination you can use in Office to insert the selected character. To type numbers in the key combination, use the numeric keypad, not the keyboard.

I hope this helps!

Please open MS Word and click "Format" and in the pull-down menu window click on "Font". Under “Font” go to “Effects” you will find “Superscript” and “Subscript”. Check the box for Superscript if you want to put power and Subscript if you want 2 in H2O below H.

However, before doing the above actions first select and highlight the number/letter that you want to use as “Superscript” and “Subscript”. When the Superscript Box is 'checked', you will find the Number became power. Like A2 will become A Square etc.

Hope this works.

It's called superscript & subscript. They are found under the font menu. Highlight the number you want to change, open font menu and click superscript or subscript.

what you are looking for are subscript (H20) and superscript (cm^3) they should be found in the format bar or under the format menu.

Sorry can't be more specific.
