My baby is due in Feb. and I am so scared that I wont have everything that I will need. How many outfits do i need? More than 20? How many bottles? What sizes? I need a checklist I don't feel very secure.
Can somebody please help me out a little??

Thank you!

First of all you need to relax. you have plenty of time, don't worry. for the first few month the most the baby will need is onesies and sleepers in size 0-3 months.Get a few nice little things for when you go out with the baby. 4 or 5 bottles should do. get diapers in newborn, powder, baby wash and lotion, an a few things from those check list site to start out with. once the baby gets here people will be giving you things and after a few weeks you can see what else you need.

Take care of yourself and that little baby.

I'm currently following a checklist I've made up with my sister in laws and mother....I'm even buying some of the things now especially diapers you can never have too many of them since babies especially newborns can go thru at 10 or more a day depending. Formula I'm buying last minute when the baby is born because I'm planning on breast feeding but if it doesn't work I'll get formula. 1.Diapers you can never go wrong or have too much of them. 2.Bottles and pacificers it's safe to say the samething as with diapers. 3.Blankets, sleepers and oneies as well as booties and caps. Also a baby kit that includes brush, nail clippers, the bulb etcetc. 4.Crib, bouncer, travel system, swing and playpen(which usually comes with a little changing table for the top) Highchairs and walkers you won't really need til the baby is about 4 or more months depending how quick the baby grows. 5.Clothing and toys can be bought a little bit before your baby is due. Have a baby shower and you'd be amazed how much clothes, toys and other silly things you can or will get.

Some tips......you will want mostly sleepers since it's winter and baby doesn't go many places anyways. I would say 12 sleepers is fine and probably the same amount of onesies. You can buy some newborn and some 3-6 months. Most babies these days are bigger and they won't be in newborn for long! Also, some cotton hats and no scratch mittens, but don't over buy (only a couple of each) until you know what your baby will want and do. Don't overload on recieving blankets, they are too thin for a winter baby. Get thin fleece or thermal blankets for baby to swadle in. You will probably want about 3-4 sheets for whatever baby will sleep in (crib, bassinet, pack n play or whatever) and a couple waterproof covers for under the sheet too. A cover for the changing mat you'll use too. If you are just changing baby where ever, get a "bath mat" they are used to sponge baths and most fold. We used one with our daughter and it was GREAT!

If you are bottles feeding, you will want at least 5-6 small bottles (under 6 ounces) and at least the same in large bottles (8 or 9 ounces). You don't need a special thing to clean them besides a bottle brush and antibacterial dish soap. You'll need to boil everything before you start to use them and I repeated 1 a month too. For burp clothes, we actually went to walmart and bought about 15 hand towels. They worked great and only cost about a $1 each, rather than $10 for 4 of the packaged ones.

Make sure you have some baby wash, diaper rash cream, thermometer, bulb syringe (booger sucker), baby nail clippers and files, and also have some infants tylenol on hand in case baby gets sick in the first few weeks or anything. Oh, make sure you have diapers on hand (we just bought size 1 not new born and they were fine) along with wipes. And of course, the rear facing infant seat! Maybe a car seat cover (they are usually fleece and fit snugly around the car seat like a blanket would, but it's easier since it doesn't blow off or anything.

Everything else is just extra! We had a swing, bouncy seat and a few small rattles (wrist rattles are cool for babies). You might need some booties and socks for the outfits they wear.

GOOD LUCK!

20 outfits is probably a little overboard because newborns usually won't fit into "infant" sizes for the first week or so. My daughter was nearly 9 lbs and was still too small for the 0-3 size. I recommend a couple of packs of infant sleepers and a carseat "tent" for your outings. The tent is designed to pull over an infant carrier after you have buckled your little one inside. It keeps the wind and weather out when you are going back and forth to the car and doesn't infere with the seatbelt.

As far as equipment goes, a bassinet (or a playpen that has a bassinet attachment) is a good idea if you don't plan to have the baby sleep in bed with you. They are easier to get the baby in and out for the first couple of months and also feel more snug because they are smaller than cribs.

A carseat probably goes without saying, but definitly get an two part infant carrier style with the base that stays buckled in the car and the carrier that clicks in and out.

A swing is a god-send for most new moms, but don't think you have to spend hundreds of dollars on one. Your baby won't know the difference between one you manually wind and the $200 electric version. Just do what's in your budget.

As for bottles, buy a 2 pack of a few different styles and different sized nipples and wait to see what your baby likes best. I recommend breastfeeding for at least the first few weeks. There are great benefits to it. More information and support is available through the La Leche League. They have meetings just about everywhere. www.lalecheleague.org

If you can ...breast feed it makes it so much easier then bottle feeding and you never have to worry about having enough bottles when you go out. If not you will need about 10 bottles with new born slow flow nipples. I like the platex drop ins because there is alot less to wash. other then the nipples and rings that will need to be sterilized. 10-12 outfits Sizes 0-3 months or sleepers is plenty the baby will grow out of them so fast . Nail clippers are a must and lots of diapers and wipes ,two packs of the newborn size diapers they go through abot 10 a day the first two weeks. and then size one and twos after that. good Luck with your new baby!!

You will need a few all in one outfits 0-3 months but mostly but 3-6 months because they grow out of the 0-3 fast, For the 3-6 months get some onsies shirts, undershirts, jeans, socks a few fleece. I would get at about 12 bottles.

20 is a good number of outfits. just make sure that they are easy for you to get the child in and out of and that they are comfortable for the baby. no need to dress them up when they sleep all the time anyway. how many bottles depends on how often you want to wash them. start with 6, the smaller size.

most of the pregnancy books or whattoexcpect.com has a baby checklist. You really dont need alot of baby outfits 0-3 moths probably 5 or 7 b/c they grow out of them so fast. Also just dont buy much of 0-3 month items since they grow . I personally buy a size bigger for my son so he wont grow out of it.

I would say...if memory serves me correctly (been 5 years now), about 10 bottles should be plenty. Buy enough clothes to change them 2 times a day so at least 14 sets of day clothes, then of course jammies ...probably just 7 would be plenty. Now, the main thing that was my LIFE SAVER after my baby was born was one of those bouncy chairs...I don't know the name of it, but they lay in it and they get strapped in it up through the crotch area. You can easily take that thing into any room your in...the biggest problem for me with a new born in the house was being able to shower while hubby was at work because I didn't want to leave the baby alone while he was awake. So I would just carry him in there with me in that little chair and it was perfect! Congrats on your baby!

most pregnancy books have some lists that would be helpful

but most importantly dont stress about it

i had a bouncy chair
about 20 recieving blankets
about 20 onsies
a few go out outfits and some night gowns and footy jamas
i breast fed so i have no idea about bottles or any of that
1 package of newborn diapers (most babies grow out of them very quickly) you dont want to spend $ you dont need to

dont buy too much you dont know how fast the baby will grow or what size she will be when born
