I work in an office. My boss was taken by suprise when I told him I would be gone Friday for Thanksgiving. Is it just me or do a lot of office personel work the day after Thanksgiving?

Friday is one of the few holidays my company observes. Howerver, there are many offices who like to keep a skeleton crew on Friday, day after turkey day. To me, it's a waste of time unless you have a lot of filing or work to catch up. The phones won't be ringing because most people (non-retail) are off on Friday.

It depends on what type of office work you do. I am just a temp and I emailed my contact person from the agency that I am working with because I didn't want to miss out any opportunities. Anyway, the receptionist told me that the agency was open (last year), but it is GOING TO be slow, so I have to call in for jobs on Monday to see what comes in. So, maybe you're a recruiter. That is why you have to work. If you're not, then you must be working in a bank because I used to work at the Federal Reserve Bank and they were open on Friday. If I was still employed there ,I had to take the whole week off! So, it depends on the type of office work you do. Most of the offices are closed.

I don't ever remember my husband taking Friday off. He has worked in factories, the military and now an office. Most times only those who have some PTO left over and need to use it before the end of the year take it. Fridays are an easy commute and a quiet day because hardly anyone shows up.

I'll be working Friday. I think many people are unless they take a vacation or PTO day. This will be the first one I have worked in years, but I will be starting a new job on Monday, so wanted to come in and make sure everything is wrapped up with this one.

I have to work the Friday after Thanksgiving in other jobs I remember having to work.

Our office is closing early today and will be closed Thurs and Friday. It only seems fair to have Thurs and Friday off especially if you work in an office setting.

We are off and paid for friday!! yay!
