An early ectopic pregnancy can sometimes be treated with an injection of methotrexate, which dissolves the fertilized egg and allows your body to reabsorb it. This nonsurgical approach minimizes scarring of your pelvic organs.

If the pregnancy is further along, you'll likely need surgery to remove the abnormal pregnancy. In the past, this was a major operation, requiring general anesthesia and a large incision across the pelvic area. This may still be necessary in cases of emergency or extensive internal injury.

However, the pregnancy may sometimes be removed using laparoscopy, a less invasive surgical procedure. The surgeon makes a small incision in the lower abdomen and then inserts a laparoscope. This long, hollow tube with a lighted end allows the doctor to view internal organs and insert other instruments as needed. Sometimes, a second small abdominal incision is made for the instruments. The ectopic pregnancy is then surgically removed and any damaged organs are repaired or removed. General or regional anesthesia may be used.

Whatever your treatment, the doctor will want to see you regularly afterward to make sure your hCG levels return to zero. This may take up to 12 weeks. An elevated hCG could mean that some ectopic tissue was missed. This tissue may have to be removed using methotrexate or additional surgery.

If you have an ectopic pregnancy you will need surgery or your fallopian tube (usually where ectopics occur) will burst as the baby grows. I think that happens around 10 - 13 wks (I'm not positive). My belly didn't start growing until around 10 - 12 wks, so you might not notice anything yet. See your Dr. at 7 or 8 wks and they should be able to tell what's going on with an ultrasound. Good luck!

No ectopic pregnancy will not go full term. It will end in miscarriage very early. If you are thinking you have this you need to seek medical attention asap. Some doctors will do a surgery to protect your tubes. Some women who have an ectopic pregnancy cannot get pregnant again.

Have you had that hernia looked at. That sounds dangerous while being pregnant. I would speak to a doctor on this.

Brandie, I couldn't get to your pics and you don't say how far along you are. If you had a tuble pregnancy and you were at the "blowing up stage" you would be in incredible pain. If you've had kids before then you will probably see a big difference from week to week as your uterus grows. If your at the 4.5-5 month mark same thing. Also if you're farther along the baby could have shifted and made your tummy appear even bigger if it's laying more to the front of your uterus. I hope this helps. Unless your in alot of pain I don't think you have anything to worry about tonight. Hope this helps. To ease your mind you should probably call your doc next week and maybe you can get in for an ultrasound. Also, the best book to get is "What to Expect When You're Expecting", it has alot of info in it. Good luck. C.

At 6.5 weeks, nothing should show anyways whether ectopic or not. The dull pain might be from the ligiments stretching which is common in first time pregnancies. I do know some hernia's can grow during pregnancy because of the hormones, but I am not sure with yours. I would say you need to see a doctor, ASAP and get eveything checked out. If it is ectopic, they need to take care of it immediatly before it ruptures or anything. Good Luck!

If you are having an ectopic pregnancy, most likely the pregnancy will terminate or be terminated. Ectopic is the egg has attached in the tube. The tubes will not expand to support a pregnancy. Go to your doctor and have it checked.

I don't think so....an ectopic pregnancy has to be ended before it has a chance to grow very large, otherwise your tube will rupture.

my mother had one of these a few years ago and her's did not self terminate..they had to do it for her when she was almost 3 months. I don't know if your tummy will grow the same but what I do know is this could be a dangerous situation and you should go to the doctor immediately.
