Any suggestions on how to overcome procrastination and some degree of laziness? There is this big project that I have been putting of for years and by so doing I have missed out on better carrier opportunities. I work and all but I can’t figure out why I am just not motivated to do any educational upgrading in order to get better. I’ve noticed how some people cut corners and brake the rules and manage to be well off with no or little education. Was wondering why is it so hard to finish what we start and how to overcome the unproductive habit of putting things of because we think we can do without?
Thanks to all who take the time.

There are three basic cause of procrastination. 1) needing everything to be absolutely perfect before you start and expecting a perfect outcome. 2) depression to one degree or another. 3) Sleep apnea
I suspect your problem may be depression. It manifests in many ways. and can be helped greatly with medication. Sleep apnea can also cause mild depression to a great extent. Do you snore? Does your partner say it sounds like you stop breathing in the night? You may need to see your family doctor. Helped me a lot.

It sounds like you need to sit down and make a plan for yourself with goals. Once you have the plan and the goals, break the goals down into tasks that will help you reach those goals, and then set a timetable/ deadlines up for each task and maybe even the goals. Put these deadlines on a calendar or planner and share it with someone else so you can hold yourself accountable and so can they. They can be like: so your first task deadline is coming up-how are you doing with it, which will help you keep motivated.

Reward yourself for every task you do on time or early and keep track of the accomplishments by checking them off a list.

It may help for you. I hope it does. Planning, organizing, and prioritizing really helps me.

I struggle with this myself and it has greatly affected my life. It's very frustrating. I wish I had an answer for you. Anti-depressants help me sometimes to get motivated.
