Hitler once wrote off Einstein as "jewish science"...but fundemental science has a way of being non-discriminate. Either conserverative or liberal, you can't evade the laws that govern the physical universe.
This isn't some nutcase left wing ideology...we are approaching the end of the world as we know it. At current levels, by the year 2048, it is predicted the oceans will be dead(not dried up), but one vast cesspool...which currently produces 80% of our oxygen.
Remember the "nutcase" who figured out what freon does to the ozone layer? LOT's of people said he was crazy to even suggest that...until NASA sat's took a good look, and the physical evidence matched the model to a T.
Science...who needs science! All these studies are based on someone who has a hidden agenda...does it serve us all, or provide window dressing for entities which choose to look away.
Any thoughts?

Hi,
There are two problems I noticed.
1) I noticed the article you linked to nowhere claims what you do, namely that by the year 2048 the oceans will be dead. Nor does the article support that assertion, even implcitely. One would expect you to find some real scientific data for that.
2) the closest the article comes to saying what you do is this:
"Douglas Futuyma, professor of ecology and evolution at the State University of New York in Stony Brook.
"I feel as though we are staring crisis in the face," Futuyma said. "It's not just down the road somewhere. It is just hurtling toward us. Anyone who is 10 years old right now is going to be facing a very different and frightening world by the time that they are 50 or 60.""
In other words, a quote from the professor, a man of science.
But he did not claim what you did.
But did you notice something interesting?
He's a professor of ECOLOGY and EVOLUTION.
This is one big mistake that people make regarding scientists. They think they know what they are talking about in ALL areas of science instead of the areas they are EXPERTS in. This professor is not an expert in climate change. That requires a CLIMATOLOGIST. Which he is not.
The only thing they can point out is that certain species are going extinct. That does not neccesarily support the conclusion which you try to make.
Making that conclusion, BTW, is not science, it is POLITICS. Because, we know that scare tactics sometimes work when trying to push an agenda (e.g. Kyoto, ahem, cough, cough).
Now, I'm not arguing that there is no such thing as global warming or that mankind is not contributing to it. I'm only saying is that our knowledge on the matter would be better served if we a) considered all aspects of the issue b) paid attention to what science has proven (as opposed to theorized).

You're absolutely correct! The social, economic, and political future of this world is, indeed, bleak - all because of man's inhumanity to man. We have failed miserably at:
a) Protecting and preserving the delicate balance between man. plants, and animals so that we can all co-exist within the Earth's environment, as Nature (or an evolutionary 'big bang' process, or God, or an 'intelligent designer') intended;
b) Maintaining peace among all people of the world, regardless of their religious persuasion, political beliefs, or cultural habits;
c) Sharing economic blessings and wealth with all inhabitants of the Earth, without trying to "hog" all of the planet's natural resources for ourselves;
d) Recognizing that power is a privilege, not an absolute right;
e) and nurturing our children to become decent, respectable, kinder, gentler people.
Our descendants are sure to look back in history and ask, "What in the world were these people thinking?" -RKO-

Prophets of doom have existed throughout history, and the end of the world has been predicted many times. That is really not our to know. I personally trust in God, the creator of the Universe, who is able to bring good out of the worst possible circumstance. I am not as cynical, to believe that all humans are looking for some " hidden agenda". I will trust my fellow man to be of sound mind and obey God's law.

If the oceans are dead at that time, then the fish will evolve into sentient beings who exhale oxygen. The whales and other assorted oceanic mammals will devise a scheme to overthrow the government, because no matter what happens, it'sall the republicans fault.

You are spot-on correct, unfortunately, no one really wants to wake up to the truth and even if all countries started to try to do something about this: it may be too late.
Thankfully, I will be dead by then.
