You want examples of non-religious governments not being peaceful?
Nazi Germany
Stalinist Russia
Imperialist Japan
Mao's China
Pol Pot's Cambodia
Castro's Cuba
etc.
But, hey, don't let facts interfere with your firmly held belief that it is religion that is the cause of everything bad with the world.

As a committed atheist I would like to agree with you.
Unfortunately there are so many examples of non religious regimes which have been inhumane in the extreme.
The obvious ones are Nazi German, USSR under Stalin, China even now, Chile under Pinochet/CIA rule, Kampuchea under Pol Pot. I'm sure there other examples I haven't thought of.
At the same time I know people from many religions who are good, kind, humane civilised people. I also know atheists who are narrow minded and bigoted. I may disagree with there religious beliefs but I certainly prefer the former to the latter.

Religion will always be a facet of the reasons and issues behind laws, precedents, and what will you. Murder, for example. There is not a religion that condones murder, so one could easily say that killing someone is against God and punishable for being so. Likewise, many could say that many vices are avoided due to common sense; people know murder is wrong and thus do not murder. As I said, it would be better if religion and government didn't intermingle, but the happening of so is near unavoidable.

Well, I'm an atheist, and not to burst your bubble but that's not a good argument. "civilization" doesn't really correlate to religion (and vice-versa). Atheism was official in USSR but I would be hard pressed to call them more humane and tolerant as Stalin persecuted people a lot too.
People could be more "civilized" with Atheism, but they could be more "civilized" with Religion too. It's a false argument.
Plus, it really depends on your and society's notion of what "civilized" is.

Contrary to popular opinion. Humanity seems to be increasing the number of wars rather than decreasing it.
The U.S. becoming more "secularized" hasn't seemed to curb the violence.

Give me an example where this IS the case. And while we're at it, do you even know what the definition of fundamentalist is?

I would be interested to know how old you are and how you were educated. Not meant to offend, I'm truly curious.
Our form of government, coupled with our strong military is why we enjoy peace.
Democracy with checks and balances is the key to ending war. We here co-exist peacefully regardless of our religious beliefs, and we always have, other than the civil war.
The civil war was not a religious war. It was a State's Rights war.
