This is a tough question for me. My husband is in the Army and supposed to go to Iraq next May. I'd like to just say, "yes pull the troops out!" It'd be an easy answer for me because then he wouldn't have to go. But we can't just pull them out, what if they start going after us at home again! I'm not well educated on the war in Iraq, you think I would be considering my husband's gonna be in it. I kinda think yes and no. Yes because I don't see how we'll ever end this war! People have been fighting there for years, how do we think we'll stop it? But we can't pull them out because they can take that as a weakness and go after us more and these people for some reason hate us! I don't think anything will stop them from hating us. Well....that was a lot of rambling nonsense, but it's what I think. :)

Why? So they can sit at Ft. Bragg and shine boots? The Job is over there not here. A pull out would lead to a power vacuum in the region. The result would be South Vietnam circa 1974 -75. We stay, train the Iraqis, kill as may SOB's we can, and then leave in a year. We will still have forces in the region. We've been in the Mid East for 50 years.

Yes.

It needs to be slow but withing a year, we are out. We need to warn their Government that we are scaling back and that they need to stand up and take over.
The Iraqis in the Government are smart. They know that if they can keep us there we will keep paying all their bills and we do. We have been rebuilding there country from the ground up and their government. We have been shoveling millions and billions of dollars into their country. Why should they get their government in order and military in order quickly? We are there to do everything for them. Smart way of thinging on there part. And they know that we are also protecting them from the insurgents, so why put there military in danger, use ours as long as they can.

We are being USED plain and SIMPLE. If we were not there and they needed help they would turn to their neighbors other Arab nations. My son who is in the Army in Iraq tells me the people on the streets dont want us there. And he tells me the place is in rubble.
But the main thing he tells me is that their military and police will never be trained. We are training them and they quit and go home and then we train others. It is a revolving door. Once they get their sign up bonus, they stay a week then leave and go home since the job is dangerous. How can we keep training and offering money to these men if they dont take it seriously?

We need to get out in a year. Turn over the Government to them and stop the flow of money to Iraq. Come home and protect our borders from terrorists. Our troops are spread around the world and instead we need them home for our safety.

we may not have a choice in the matter. the whole middle east is in much turmoil and a lot of it is due to the fact that they see us as imperialists who are occupying a country there just to try to impose our governmental system on them. we either have to "go big..go long..or go home" if we go big will mean a draft..if we go long will mean dividing America even further and the promise of further failure..go home makes us look like weak trouble makers and will leave us more insecure than we were before unless we close our borders and get the nukes ready. either way you look at it it is a mess Bush got us into. so in my opinion we will go long because of Bushes stubborn attitude which will only lead us to the same place we are now.

Yes, because we are causing a civil war to escalate among Iraqis and 1000s of people have already died, and dozens continue to die daily there (mostly Iraqi civilians).
