First, you need to get the problem into like terms. The way to do this is to figure out how many inches are in a mile.
1 mile = 5280 feet
1 foot = 12 inches
5280 * 12 = 63,360 inches in one mile
63,360 * 100 = 6,336,000 inches in 100 miles.

Now that we know how many inches are in 100 miles, and we also know that each time the tire goes around, you have traveled 87.9 inches. Divide the number of inches in 100 miles by the number of inches of the wheel's circumfrence will give us the total revolutions of the tire for the 100 mile trip:
6,336,000 / 87.9 ≈ 72081.9

This means that the tire turned (approximately) 72,081.9 times during the 100 mile trip.

Circumference of tire
=87.9inch
Number of tire rotation in 100 miles
=100*5280*12/87.9
=72081.911

Divide the total distance by the circumference:

100/87.9

But then you have to get the units right

100 / 87.9 * 5280 * 12 ≈ 72081.911262798634812286689419795 times.

100*5280*12/87.9
=72082 times

The answer to the question is easy to figure out first you take 87.9 inches that is one tire ratation. one mile is 5,280 feet convert to inches is 12 * 5280 = 63360. now devide by one tire rotation. 63360 / 87.9 = 720.8191. Now mutiply by one hundred miles (hint move the decimal over two points to the left) = 72081.91

hope this explains a lil for you

1 inches = 1.57828283 × 10-^5 miles

So the tire is 1.387310608x10^-3 miles in length

So if the tire travelled 100 miles it would go
100/1.387310608x10^-3 times

=72081.91116 times

87.9 inches = 7.325 feet = 2.441666... yards = 0.00138731... miles circumference

100/00138731... = 72081.9 rotations
