Hahahaha I loved "Grumpy's" answer "I'm going to practise my "Bah Humbugs" I think that's about right. I can't think of another occasion on the human calendar when sooo many people make soooo much "HooooRahhh" over such a non-event. It seems to me to be an occasion that has just snowballed in its "consumerism" over time, and people have developed the "ant colony" mentality, where you just have to do certain things because it's what the rest of the colony is going to be doing. In this family, we're going to be keeping our money safely in our wallets, and the gas in the tank of our vehicles. We're going to make sure we have all the food and supplies we need, tuck up indoors, all snug, turn on the telly and watch allllll the ants scuttling around acting exactly alike. For us, the biggest deal about turning into a new year will, as always, be trying to remember to put "07" and not "06" on our checks LOL.

Stop home with Him in the Headphones and have a quiet evening; drink a little champers, eat a few prawns and try to stay awake until the fireworks start to go off. Sit around in my PJs and daff the world aside.
