Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of a 68 camaro steering column without having to sink a bunch of money in a book?

My boyfriend is pulling his hair out trying to figure this out and I would like to help him if I can. Even if you can explain how to install one that would be helpful too.

the springs seem to be offering the most trouble.

There are 3 bolts holding it to the floorboard.Under the panel beneath the steering column is 2 nuts holding it up in a bracket. Start the nuts under the dash first then run the 3 screws through the floorboard. Outside under the hood is the shaft off the steering column and there should be a shaft coming up fom the steering gear box..There is a flat spot on both columns and this is how you align the teeth so the two will mate. There is a collar and a bolt that fits over the 2 that tightens up ( it called the pinchbolt and collar. I can't remember the torque but I do remember how much space should be left before collapsing the collar together ,it's about between a 1/4 and an 1/8 of an inch. Now if the 2 shafts won't mate check the teeth on both and make sure they look like they are the same size or it will never go together cause if ya changed the steering gear you might have to take the shaft off of the old steering gear box and put it on the new one . Problems? e-mail me at eldoradodave@yahoo.com. What springs are you talking about, inside the steering column?

This is about a newer column, but most of the parts are the same.
