Are they already in charge? It certainly seems so with the news.
I haven't noticed much of a change, other than Rangel freaking out the youth with his draft talk, used to undermine support for the war.
Is this the politicking we can expect for 2 years? Yes.

Change occurs slowly as you can tell by the current Bush agenda to continue to strive to create a functioning democracy in Iraq.
Yet we must consider the amount of time effort and lives that are required to accomplish a goal .
Number one in this process is what lasting benefit will we derive from such a venture as turning Iraq into a democracy and can it function given the nature of the people and there religious and political understanding .
Many Americans feel that it is not going to pan out and that investing billions of dollars ,20 years ,and a number of lives that can best be described as a million or more is to high a price to pay at this time .
Now in the future if the majority of people decide to have change then assisting them becomes a means to achieve this end .The current situation and circumstance will not permit a democracy to exist .
We are just going through the motions and nothing is being accomplished .
To this end I feel the democrats are more in touch with what the American people want at this time .
No longer will the attitude of a handful of politicians and lobbyist be allowed to continue to say we know what is best in the long run and we must continue to pursue this goal regardless of the costs involved .
Democrats will look first to examine the facts ,look at the projections and make a determination based on the information gathered from all available sources .
So in the near future when democrats begin to solve some of the problems Americans want addressed we will begin to see government working for the people and not the people working for the government .
The cost and debt that is piling up is tremendous and needs to come to a screeching halt. This the democrats are certainly going to do .
If not America will again vote for people willing to listen to the voice of the people .
Politicians better change their tune and begin doing what Americans want or they will find themselves on the wrong side of the next election .

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Personally, I was hoping for a more non-partisan control.....one where both "sides" work together for the common good rather than parrot party opinions, with more give and take and bending to find real solutions. There is too big a division between the two parties these days. Most Americans are somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. We need more middle of the road people in charge.

We can only hope so. All I know is that right now I have a feeling of relief that King George has some checks and balances in place. If they accomplish nothing more than putting some restraints on a President who acts as though he's a dictator that will be an improvement. Also, it's been a pleasure to send a message to GW that the majority of Americans do not approve of his war, his tactics, or his Administration. It got him off his high horse to get rid of Rumsfeld, that's progress in itself. The rest remains to be seen after January.

Well no, They scare the hell out of me - the party of tax hikes, anti-business, anti growth and make everyone dependent on the government. They misinterpret the Constitution, the policy of removing Christian values from schools is wrong, this country was found on Christian principals. They want raise minimum wage - driving up the cost of business, they say they are for the poor yet what have they truly done to help the poor?

I'm a lot happier and less fearful about our future. But maybe we need to give 5 more minutes or so to see what happens.
I know, the GOP spin machine is ready to start assaulting the democrats and just can't stand that they haven't started in Congress yet! Steady on that trigger, bub.
Its good to know how eager you guys are to see the democrats fail though.

Its going to get worse. The history of the democrats is spend and tax and spend some more. Between LBJ's "Great American Society" and the war in Vietnam (with casualties higher than Iraq),the U.S. was technically BANKRUPT. The economy was so bad during the Carter Administration, the news media created a new tem " stagnation". High prices and low wages.

Since control of the congress has not yet transferred to the Democrats, and will not until January, isn't your question premature? Or better yet, isn't your question really "are we better off now with a lame duck Republican congress"?
