Work harder to get it? How can you spend the rest of your life worrying about what "might" happen? Screw that! You want it? Get it! Do whatcha gotta do.

First, ask for it. Sometimes things come easily that way. If that doesn't work, then work as hard as you can toward it. It may be a cause for a second job (if it's expensive) or it may be a thing you just have to give up (if it's a romantic thing). Whatever, good luck!

I am a very driven person and trying everything in my power to get it is what I'd do. If I don't get it, then maybe it wasn't meant for me to have.

fear can be a great motivator, it can bring out personality traits you never knew you possesed and the will to get the thing you need most.

sometimes we dont get everything we want and most of the tiime when we do we quickly realize that we didn't really want it afterall. but if you really want something bad enough you will get it.
