We bought a Bosch 1440 a year ago second hand (front loader). In the beginning, there was some bacterial fouling at the rubber band, so we cleaned it as much as possible and we got it clean. After a year though, especially dark clothing started to stink like some kind of decay or mildew, but the front rubber band is not dirty, so I suppose it must be somewhere inside the machine - but where? I've bought a washingmachine cleaner in Germany, used it, no effect, I bought one a stronger one in South Korea, used it, no effect... I'm not sure what else I could do with it? Thx for all answers!

well, my washing machine did that. Are you washing things in cold water? Because if so, it might not be killing odor causing bacteria that are on your clothes like warm or hot water can. Also i had to switch laundry detergents. Another thing to do is to add a little color safe bleach into every load. I doubt it's the machine, because mine did the exact same thing and these things worked for me. the dryer might be the cause of the issue. You never know, if you can't fix the smell yourself, call a repair man. Hopefully this may help. Good luck.

I have a front loader also, although it's not a Bosch. There is a special cleaning cycle that can be accessed by pressing a particular combination of buttons at the beginning of a wash cycle. This special cycle fills the tub with more water than usual. You use straight bleach during this cycle to clean and sanitize the tub.

The Bosch may have a similar cycle that you can use.

Also, could the smell be coming from your dryer? My dryer exhaust line was plugged up with gunk and that caused a stink. Cleaning out the dryer line fixed the issue.

You might be able to run the machine through a wash cycle using white vinegar in it. They say that is what you can do with a load of clothes if you forget to take them out and they smell musty. Don't know if it will work, but couldn't hurt. Good luck.
