Sounds like you got two issues. First you feel you want what you can't have, because you want your cubical neighbor to shut up. I think we all would want our cubicle neighbor to shut up, so that's not an unreasonable desire. On the larger question of wanting what's out of reach, the grass is always greener syndrome, hell if I know. But it may have something to do with being to familiar with our on existence, or stuff if you will. Stuff including everything in our life's from our job to our families to our brand of toothpaste. I think its just our innate selfishness as humans. Which probably stems from a basic survival instinct.
Then again, remember that nothing is static, the world is in motion, and the only constant is change. So your noisy neighbor is at most temporary, even if temporary is 20 years, it won't last forever. And he could be worse, he could be a loudmouth and stink as well.

Why don't you just ask him to be quiet. Or change cubicles. Or Take a drill and dismantle his chair so when he sits on it he falls off then laugh at him and maybe he'll shut up and stop thinking he's such hot sh*t.

Yeah, I have that problem too. Men, cars, just about every aspect of my life. Then once i get the thing I've been dreaming of, it doen't seem so hot any more. I guess I just lead a rich fantasy life. I'm not to impressed with reality.

LMAO, you have to have hopes and dreams, what else would make you keep going? Buy the cubicle guy a muzzle, maybe he'll get the hint.

Well, but if you kill him, you'd find that the jail has excellent medical facilities, and mental homes have doctors on staff, so it evens out. Personally, I always want what I can't have, because, once I have it, I have to find something else to want!

Maybe you want what you are unable to have, because what you want is bad for you. Or you love to suffer.
