Ive been on the depo for abot 2 years and for the first few months I too had the same issues that you had. Sometimes if you are late in taking the shot, or if your system gets overloaded with stress you can have a period. I would call my doctor and tell them what's going on. Sometimes wiht depo you can have breakthrough bleeding and my ob/gyn gave me a round of birth control pills also to stop the bleeding. Also , depo is to be given every 12 weeks, so if you took in april, you are way due for a shot and that could be the reason for the bleeding and cramping.

Yes i took the depo shot a couple of years ago. And the same thing happened to me, except I bled more often then not. I didint go for another shot of it, and it stopped almost after the 3 month mark (since it is in your system for 3 months). I later found out that most girls experience the same side effects from it, and or they experience a lot of wieght gain (so heads up). My doctor doesint offer it anymore, he claims its no good.

I'm not familiar with a depo shot but will say this, anyone who messes around with their period is in for long term problems. The government may not have all the facts in today but it is my guess in the years to come there are going to be serious consequences to women who opted to take a birth control to stop their menstrual cycle for months at a time.
This can no be healthy. There is a reason the female body needs to go through this natural occurance.
I am pleading with the women out there who have chosen to take this route for convenience would reconsider their decision. It might have seemed like the right choice today but I fear in the years to come when your life has changed you will deeply regret your decision to alter what your body was designed to do.
You might think of it as taking the oil out of a car and then running it. How long would it run before you have serious problems.
You won't be able to replace or repair the body from the damage this can cause. Please rethink your choice.

I was on depo for 4 years. I had a period every 3 or 4 months. It was worse right before my shot was due. I sometimes arranged my shot to be done every 10 or 11 weeks because of the pain.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL! I dont mean to scare you but get to a doctor now! This could be something bad and if you did bleed you certainly shouldnt have bled so heavy for it to go through everything. I think you may be having a miscarriage or something.
Anyway something is wrong and you need to get checke dout asap.
Dont mess with your health!

I agree, your periods will be all over the place with this and the problem is that you are stuck with the side effects for as long as the injection lasts. You should definitely see your GP however for reassurance and to discuss alternative contraception etc. You should also make sure that you are up to date with smear tests etc.
