Same reason children blame their parents; employees blame their bosses & poor people blame the rich. People have a psychological blindspot for their own deficiencies. Since their problems cannot be their own doing; they must be due to some powerful malevolent force. Look around & see who is the most powerful force. They must be responsible.

Because there isn't anyone else to blame. Since we help other countries out all the time they feel like that if they have a problem that it should be ours as well.

Guilt. They never do anything, so we have to clean up their messes. They feel guilty and ashamed so they have to try to blame us.

It is also like the football player that gets punched. When he responds, he is the one that gets penalized, not the person that started it. That's us, we are never the one that starts anything, we always respond and somehow get blamed for it.

Because then they do not have to take responsibility for their screw-ups.

And blaming the US creates a nice smokescreen for their own wrongdoings. (Look at Germany and France in regards to Iraq for an example.)

Several reasons:

1. We are seen by many countries/regimes as threats to their way of life, look at Iraq, Taliban.

2. They feel we should be better than everyone else because of our super power status.

3. Honestly, we've done a lot of things lately that upset the great number of countries - mainly muslim countries.

4. For those countries who rulers don't agree with our country/government its easier to use their state run newspapers to keep focus on the horid satan US then on their own oppressive governments.
