I love thrift stores...great clothes and even better prices. I have found some really nice things at my local salvation army and goodwill store. But I have told some people that I shop there at least once a month and they totally look at me like I'm trailer trash..I don't get it.

I LOVE THRIFTSHOPS!!!!! I get almost all my clothes there if I can. If you look hard enough, you can find great clothes and even greater prices. Im not poor, nor am I nerdy, everyone I know compliments me on the clothes I have, and when I tell them they came from a local thriftshop, they are completely shocked. Its actually a hobby of my best friend and I to go to "Thriftshopping" and get the best bargains we can on clothes.

Don't EVER let anyone get you down for shopping at thrift stores!!! You are helping a charity when you shop there, you aren't blowing your whole paycheck on your wardrobe, and you are having an adventure finding the "best bargain of the month!" Don't tell people you shop there; they'll get all the good stuff before you do, I say. HAHAHA!!

Seriously, I shop at a Goodwill once a month myself, and no one ever questions my Ferragamo shoes (still in the boxes and dust bags), my Christian Dior suit, my little black dress, my gold (yes, GOLD!) bracelet or my D & B purse. You go girl, and have a grand time. Let those losers waste all their money on retail. Good luck.

No I haven't purchased clothes for myself there although I do take my sweet time snooping through all their pictures and silver etc...a fellow here purchased a photo a year or so ago of the Royal Family from Holland...paid something like $3 for it, ended up being worth $2500

I saw a Stein in one of the shops last year (still kicking my rear over this one!) it was from Germany, probably one of the UGLIEST things I've ever seen...picked it up, looked at it and thought to myself "no way that would be worth anything!". Shows what I know, few months later watching the Antique Road Show...that very stein shows up, I'm waiting to hear that it is worth oh maybe a few bucks...worth $25,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I pick up something ugly??? I buy it!

Good luck, I don't see anything wrong with this kind of shopping for clothes and like one other person said, lots of times you can get clothes that have never been worn...I've donated a number of things from our home in the clothes area that still had the price tags on them and had seen nothing more than the back of a chair or the inside of a dresser drawer...some very good finds!

Besides, take note of the vehicles parked outside one day...you'll probably discover a few Caddies, BMW's, Benz's etc and a large majority of newer or brand new vehicles...this is considered "charity" work and what better way to keep our money in our pockets than to buy from here.

Watch what you buy as far as condition and such goes and there isn't any problem with it in my view. Here at the moment (and for the past year or so) teens flock to these stores, it's the in thing to wear something "vintage".

I also shop at thrift stores and have gotten top name brand clothing for dirt cheap prices. There's absolutely nothing wrong with shopping there. You may just want to downplay where you shop. To the question "where did you get that?" You response could be "you'd never believe it if I told you". Let them wonder how you can afford the great clothing you wear!

Thrift stores have some really great bargins. I don't know where you live, but here on the west coast they are very popular. Resale is huge here. If you told somebody you bought it at a thrift store they look at you with envy!

I usually buy clothes at thrift stores, but I usually drive out of my way to go to the really nice neighborhoods. The rich are always giving very nice never worn clothes away.

I shop at thrift stores once in a while. I always find Steve Maddens and Doc Martens for like $12. I love it. People that give you nasty looks when you tell them you shop at thrift stores are just snobs.

One year my sister and I each got $500 from our Grandmother to go Christmas shopping for ourselves. My sister went to Thrift stores to shop and I went to the mall. When we were finished we laid out our stuff in the den to look at. My things fit on one small chair. Her things took up and entire huge couch and all the other furniture in the room. She got some great stuff. Most of it was like new or brand new. Don't listen to any one's put downs. They feel badly about themselves and want to lift the ole nose at someone to feel better.

WITH AN EIGHT YEAR OLD THAT'S CONSTANTLY GROWING OF COURSE I SHOP AT THE THRIFT SHOPS. WHY PAY $30-$60 BUCKS ON SOMETHING THAT HE PROBABLY WILL ONLY WEAR FOR A FEW MONTHS BEFORE IT'S TIME TO UPGRADE THE CLOSETS AGAIN.

The nice thing is that it's helps the people who work there to be productive and have dignity. Many of the employees are handicapped or disabled in some way and they do a wonderful job.
