I believe that this question wants an answer whether Rama and/of Krishna actually existed and not about existence of god as such.

These two are incarnations of god and existed in flesh and blood and subject to all the fads and foibles human flesh is hair to.We would, therefore, have to look for concrete proof about their actual existence on the face of earth. While ample evidence about the veneration in which these incarnations were held exist in the form of mythology and temples dedicated to them these are not by themselves objective evidence of their existence but only subjective feeling about it. Actually no independent evidence of existence of any of the two has come to light so far.In the case of Krishna an indirect evidence inthe form of coins of the AndhakVrishni dynsty to which Krishna belonged have been found in Punjab. This find is evidence of the actual existence of the line. The coins are not for Krishna and so no proof of his existence. But other than these few coins no other evidence of the exisence of any of them is available.Hence the evidence cannot be treated as conclusive.Remains of the capital of Krishna's Yadav capital Dwarka submerged in the sea confirming the mythological tale of the submergence of the city can be said to be another evidence of the possible existence of Krishna. It however, shows a strong possibility of Krishna existence but is not a conclusive proof.Govt. now proposes to do research in the submerged site of Dwarka and may be we may come across some concrete evidence., Till then the matter must necessarily has to be treated only as a tentative hypothesis.

I think that they were real. Just like Christains' jesus and mohammedans' Mohammed. They were real. Only that their association with a fictional entity i.e. God isn't real. They were mere mortals, good ones but mortals.

That's why they all died.

There's no proof of anything. That's why you need faith. If there was proof, everyone would start doing what they're supposed to.
