A kind heart

I can't speak for all females, but there is no one trait that all by itself attracts me. Here are some of the most important, though:

Intelligence - that's THE most important but not good enough without some of the others.
Respectfulness - if a man tries to be controlling or is putting me down a lot, I'm outta there. Bullies are bad news.
Self confidence - but not to the point of being conceited.
Good humor - not just a sense of humor, which is important, but being able to take things in stride and cope without getting upset.
Hairiness - here's where the primitive woman kicks in - testosterone, etc. I like a man with body hair. Girly guys who shave everything turn me OFF.

first and foremost, he has to look like he can produce healthy offspring (high testosterone traits) - its in our genetic code to reproduce, and if a man looks like he has high testosterone levels, there is a better chance of conceiving.

after that, there is the good father trait. no one wants to have a child from a dead-beat guy. there has to be sympathy and compassion and gentleness, but he also able to provide - not to sound like a gold digger, but some guy who cant hold down a job and looks like he sleeps on a rock just wont cut it when you're looking for a partner and not just a one night stand.

now that we got the subconscious stuff out of the way, we are in the 2000s and we arent running around procreating 24/7. we now look for personality that complements our own. i personally like a guy that can make me smile but also is a little shy (cause i'm really shy too so a really outgoing person wouldnt be good for me). people who are full of themselves are a really big turnoff to me, and i'm more likely to notice the quiet guy wandering around by himself than someone who has a group of girls hanging all over him.

Kindness, gentleness, sincerity, strength of character. But it is no good being all of these if you are not going to be them later. There is nothing worse for a woman than discovering it was all an act.

I watched a special on this topic on PBS. Scientists believe it is a combination of things, such as symmetry in facial features, body scent, and body structure like muscles and posture (mostly before we even talk to them).

In my opinion a mans' character. Also the fact that when he tells you something you know his word is like pure gold. (Meaning) He will do what he says and if he can't he has enough character to say he won't be able to do this or that. Also the way he carries himself his (demeanor).

Charisma - and you've either got it, or you haven't. the good news though is that charisma means different things to different people! For me it's someone slightly mysterious, intelligent, cautious and intriguing!
