I'm looking for the best way to clean a wood floor in a bar... Yes, it gets filthy- dirt, cigarette ashes and butts, food, spilled drinks. It has a poly. coat on it. The previous owners were using an all-purpose cleaner on it, mopping it like 5 times (sweeping w/ a push broom before mopping). But I think this technique just pushes the dirt around and doesnt actually clean it up. The cleaner I also believe leaves the floor looking hazey and just doesn't clean well. Any suggestions?

Sorry, forgot to add that the floor basically has to be cleaned daily but its the worst after the weekends. And I need something that can be done in just a couple of hours.

I am not sure how this would work in a bar but I did this when I had wood floors in my house. Get a dust mop, Spray it lightly with furniture polish (I used pledge or something similar) Then dust mop the floors with it. then follow it with a damp mop with a cleaner made for wood floor. I got some at Lowes. That seemed to clean my floor nice and did not leave a murky film.

Buy a dust mop, push the dirt to one side of the room and get it up with a dust pan, then mop your floor with 1 cup vinegar to 3 gallons of water. Rinse the mop often to ensure your not spreading the dirt. This will also take away the dull look on the wood.
