Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska. This album has a great sound that would be hard to find anywhere else. showcases the many talents of one of the finest songwriters of all time.

Goanna - Spirit of Place. These guys had so much talent and it's a shame no one saw it. It's a start to finish album that slowly draws you in.

The Dixie Chicks - Taking The Long Way. I just love their sound.

Not sure what floats your boat but if it's rock and you haven't heard Doolittle by The Pixies or Songs For the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age they're well worth a try.

For more mellow moments try Out of Season by Beth Gibbons and Rustin' Man. A thing of beauty.

And for something a bit more out there you could do worse than Bone Machine by Tom Waits. I think it's brilliant but it's probably a love it or hate it thing.

Eg & Alice - 24 Years Of Hunger.
It's mellow, jazzy, and quite hard to find, but she has a meltingly beautiful voice, and it's well worth checking out.
It came out in the early 90's
