I was almost tempted not to dignify this question with a response, but when I saw "Janey's" assumption that all the muslims are on the faith pages, I thought I should at least lay that part of the question to rest. I am not quite sure where you get your information from....Actually, let me stop and address that one first. You probably get your information from Fox and CNN and the media in the US, don't you? That would at least excuse your ignorance because obviously you are not getting the whole picture, only the parts that feed your ignorance and attitude. Just step outside of your shell for a brief moment and take in all the facts and form an opinion for yourself. That would be a little more respectable.
As far as whether or not muslims in Kashmir are freedom fighters or terrorists, the conflict is between Hindus and Muslims for the mere reason of geography. But I don't think I should waste my breath on teaching a closed mind. If you'd like to categorize anyone who is a mass killer to be a muslim, then include in there Timothy McVeigh, the KKK, the IRA, and how about the US army in Iraq (I'm sure in your scan of the national media has shown you the sex scandal pictures).

Hindu's and Muslim's have been fighting for so long, I'm not sure anyone has a handle on the actual reason anymore.
What is true and hasn't changed much in these past decades, both are highly undereducated cultures. When we see the highly trained doctors, engineers, scientist and teachers of India they are usually a US/UK citizen or are busy perfecting nuclear weapons in their own country. You can bet they're not in the mountain regions of Kashmir. As for the Muslims of the region, they have radical clerics.... Haven't heard of any attempts to progress from the crusades for those sad individuals.
Not a Muslim but believe Pakistani radicals, fanaitical islam and misguided Indians should not have the distinction of being called freedom fighters. They only believe the piece of dirt they are standing on is worth fighting for. We already know who the terrorist are!

KASHMIR:
Though, is a much more complex story. There are plenty of problems in Kashmir and they go way back, but the major current conflicts come from the 1980s. In 1986, when India blocked the election, it actually stole the election, and that led to an uprising and terrorist violence and atrocities, including atrocities committed by the Indian army.

We can't lump all religions into one group, or we begin to sound like Rosie O'Donell or Elton John. Most of the world's religions have done a lot to feed the hungry, shelter the poor, and help the weak. Islam, however, has sought to enslave or kill the Infidel. They have no tolerance for diversity of thought, the rights of women, or freedom of speech.
Moderate Muslims need to stand up and fight for their religion, if they are truly a great religion, they will do so at some point.
