Activation of my PC Infrared?

My Computer settings says there is infrared in my pc but iam not knowing how to operate it so please can anyone say how to activate it.

Look in the Device Manager (Control Panel > System Icon > Hardware tab > Device Manager) and see if the Infrared is listed and enabled. If it is, all you would need to do is get another infrared device close to it, and the PC will hook to the device so you can use it. Such as an infrared enabled printer or a Palm Pilot. Once connected, you would use the device just as them as if it was connected with a cable (for example, you would print to the printer just like normal).
