Are you serious? I'm not even a religions person but even I know the answer to this moronic question. In the beggining of the bible, you know that big book with a lot of words in it, God made man and he made animals and the earth and so on. Anyway my point is, it states clearly that he put man over animals. He said man is the master of the animals. (not in so many words) If i remember correctly. If i got it wrong, my appologies. Anyway, it's the nature of the beast. We need animals for..well..everything.

Well... First they are part of the food chain and we need them for survival.
Domestic animals are mostly for companionship, and in most cases have a better life with us than they would have in the wild.
Some animals are considered pest when they interfere with agriculture, which we need to survive.
So you see... if you propose that we all become vegetarian, we still will need to protect our agriculture.
It is impossible to have a vegetable garden in Australia unless you have a fence all around it. You have to defend it from rabbits, kangaroos and wild pigs. Not to mention the odd wombat.
Do vegetarians drink milk? Because you need to lock up a cow in order to have milk.

The cause, reason and the problem is due to the difference...
Human beings have self awareness....
Animals do not have self awareness....
Therefore animals depend merely on instincts of survival, whereas human beings, out of self-awareness have the choice to do as they wish with their life !

Yes we WON.
Animals tried to kill humans for thousands of years.
We won.
Now we get to do what we want.
Woe to the vanquished!

It depends on what you mean with "taking advantage".
When it means that we eat them, well that's nature for you. They eat each other as well.
