My dogs love the Christmas tree, I've resorted to putting things in front of the tree so that they can't get to the tree, this might help, or just make a lot of noice to spook the dog away from the tree, doing some of this will make the dog less likely to bother the tree.

Never had a dog destroy the tree, but I did have a cat that climbed in the tree one year and it toppled. It was probably an 8 or 9 ft real tree. Came home that sucker was laying across the living room. The poor cat was sitting there staring at me with the biggest eyes, like holy sh*t I didn't realize that would happen! I got so mad all I could do was bust out laughing...I went and grabbed a stuffed 3ft. Grinch I had gotten at Rich's a few years before set it on the toppled tree and took pictures and used that pic as my Christmas card the following year.

easily no longer something! I even have 3 cats and 2 canines, the canines the place saved away by prompting the tree on a small table off the floor, the cats even with the undeniable fact that could kung fu bounce on the tree branches, what we did became into we placed away the dazzling costly glass adorns and caught to plastic (some dazzling ones) and tied the tree to a nail positioned at the back of it with some eco-friendly colored rope, no count number how stressful they pulled they wehere no longer waiting to hold it down and while a number of the adorns fell we only placed them returned up, finally the cats will advance older and stop that behaviour.

I had a black lab for awhile, but I had no problem with him and the christmas tree. If it is going to be a problem, each time he tries something, put him in a kennel or something so that he can learn that this is NOT the way to do this - and that he cannot behave this way.
It was not a problem for me at all. Congrats on being able to buy a real tree. We've used the same one for years.
Merry Christmas!

My dog pulls the ornaments off of the Christmas tree. Once she pulled off a glass ornament and it busted in her mouth. Since then I've only put on ornaments that can safely be destroyed and keep them higher on the tree.

i never had a dog that bothered the tree but i had a cat that liked to climb up it. and honestly, you wont know until you try, my big fear of having a christmas tree with a dog was thinking that the dog would wanna pee on it, but none of my dogs ever bothered it, luckily enough.

No but I've had my cats mess them up before. I would leave and come back home to find the cat up in the tree

We have quite a few critters and if we want a Christmas tree we are going to have one.
Teaching a critter is a pain at times, but it needs to be done.

Yes I have. On the same year my dog peed on the christmas tree, he threw up on it, and he licked it we told him to get away but he didn't listen.
