I'll answer your question precisely. I thought of two things in rapid succession. I thought of wholesome nutrition and a wholesome lifestyle as if they were a unified whole. I also realized that the wholesome lifestyle was rooted in a wholesome mind or mental attitude. I felt all of this went together. Each feeds the other.
I also felt a little tug that said not to get too precious or pious about being wholesome or it will turn into its opposite. Wholesome does not mean rigid. It is also fexible. Beautiful flowers draw energy and nutrients from compost!
I also thought of the word "natural". Wholesome behavior is careful not to dismember 'Nature' excessively. What is wholesome tries to stay in rhythm with what is natural. It is the opposite of corruption and excessive artifice.
I also thought of healthy cells which work together co-operatively with other healthy cells. A wholesome lifestyle allows the possibility of productive co-operation among people just like those healthy cells. Something wholesome consists of wholesome parts which together compose an overall wholesome state that engenders a surprising feeling of well-being.
Very nice question. Thanks for asking it.
