I just moved from CA to MA last year, and am hoping to see some pond hockey action this winter.

Who's already started playing pond hockey this winter... anyone? I've never played on anything but rinks. Is it as fun as I think it will be?

Anything in particular I should know? Any significant differences (I mean, besides the lack of boards, lines, odd size and shape of the surface and acorn and leaf hazards...)?

Any pond hockey etiquette I should observe? (I know, I know. Bring enough beer to share.)

What's the best way to find and get in on pond hockey games?

We live on a lake, & build a rink on it right out side our front door. Dress warm, and like someone already said make sure you have lots of pucks, beer/hotchocolate, and snack! I think that's propably the best advise!

Bring lots of pucks, you lose a lot of them because of the lack of boards.
