n the second interview the company asked me what I was looking for as far as salary goes. I stated I was looking for $25,000 per year which is $13.03 per hour. They sent me an offer letter today but the starting pay is $12.00 per hour which is lower than what we discussed. Im going to take the job, but, should I say something about the pay and ask to start at what we discussed? Or keep my mouth shut and hope for a raise soon?

And, If I discuss the salary, I am afraid that they will just move on to another applicant that will start at $12.00/hr, I have never done salary negotiations, so I am lost here.....

Situations like these can be tricky. One doesn't want to be pushy and be adamant that they want more than what was offered but at the same time if that is done it could prove beneficial to you in the end when you walk away the winner in the salary negotiation.

My honest suggestion would be to take the $12.00 per hour and hope that the raise may come soon. Most times employer give new staff members probation periods to prove themselves and when that time has expired, if they are satisfied with your work, you end up getting a raise. Good luck.

Don't take the job until you negotiate with them. Ideally, you don't want to be the first one to give a salary figure since the company may have been willing to give you a higher salary than you asked for. Since you are already past this point, I would tell them you were looking for more like $13 or so an hour and ask them if they can do any better than the $12 they offered. If they say no, see if you can improve the offer by increasing your vacation days, improving you health benefits, or retirement plan options. Maybe you can negotiate weekends off or something else that you would value if they won't give you more money. Remember, the worst that happens is they say "no". Also remember, you want to work with these folks so make this a friendly non-confrontational conversation.

nicely 12000 isn't lots. i'm taking it to be area time because of the fact finished time this salary is extremely low. Howeer with low wages comes reward from government or something of that nature. i'm to uncertain. additionally youre basically 22 and with this activity you will possibly be able to artwork your self up into larger positions and greater effective salary and reward on the hotel. you have the possibility to artwork your self up as hotes artwork like that (i think of). Why no longer do a BTEC or degree or the different sort of qualificaton which could help area time like a management course or something like that to greater effective your opportunities. besides the undeniable fact that i might have a communicate mutually with your employer with regard to the salary you desire an advance as that's undesirable for somebody of twenty-two. as quickly as PAYE, national coverage and any expenditures come under consideration your left with no longer something as there are livin expenses, working a vehicle etc etc

did they say "yes, that sounds like a fair pay"? you should have said "x amount of dollars an hour" also, they may have thought you meant that you wanted to make $25,000 a year before taxes? i would ask for clarification beforehand.

if you already discussed that with them, then you should tell them, maybe they want to start with that and a few months after give you a raise, but definitely you have to asked them.

Sort it out BEFORE you start work, and especially before you sign anything.
