Having a little trouble with this...
As a typist for the Chief of Administration, you are required to type 15 documents. Each document is 12 pages long with 25 lines per page and 10 words per line. Assuming that you type 40 words per minute, how many minutes will it take you to type all 15 documents?

40 words per minute.
To type 10 words takes you 10/40 = 1/4 of a minute.
10 words per line. = 1/4 minute per line.
To type 25 lines takes 25 * 1/4 = 6 1/4 minutes.
25 lines per page = 6 1/4 minutes per page.
To type 12 pages takes 12 * 6 1/4 = 75 minutes.
12 pages per document = 75 minutes per document.
To type 15 documents takes 75 * 15 = 1125 minutes.
15 Documents, 1125 minutes = 18 hours, 45 minutes.

If you can type 40 words per minute, and there are 10 words per line, you can type 4 lines a minute. 25/4=6.25 minutes to type a page * 12 pages = 75 minutes per document *15 = 1125 minutes to type 15 documents If you want to know how many hours that is, divide 1125 by 60

The result of the previous answers were all correct. Everybody arrived to the result in a different way. So I add my way as well.
(15doc X12 pages X25lines ) divided by 10 words per line = 450 words divided by 40 words per minute = 1125 minutes

First you need to work out how long it would take to type one document and to do that you need to know how many words in one document so you can use the typing speed to get the time it takes.
You need to multiply the number of words in a line by the number of lines this gives you the total words on a page - multiply this by the number of pages - gives you the word count for whole document. If you want to know the entire word count times this by number of documents.
Now all you need to do is calculate the speed to type that number of words based on the 40 words a minute speed. Remember that there are only 60 mins in an hour so you need to alter your final answer to reflect the total in hours and minutes.
