Currently in my town there has been a significant increase of beggars, general low lives, and crime. The sense of the community is really low, everyone seems miserable and unmotivated..ive been talking to people and they agree that the change has been quite dramatic, its always been a poor area but something has changed for the worst,...it feels like there is not much hope...has this been happening anywhere where you live?

Actually, our community seems to be turning around. We were once known as the meth manufacturing capitol of the world, with weekly killings and bodies discovered nearly every morning on SOME local street. But over the last ten years, our local churches have gotten together, and brought the community at least a little closer together. I can't really say if it was the prayer or the change in elected officials in the nearest town, but crime has indeed slowed down, and the people seem to smile more.

Not here. Start handing out balloons and cotton candy. No one can be miserable with balloons and cotton candy around.

There is always something that can be done to improve any situation, even just a little bit.
