I personally think that the war has shifted in the wrong direction. I fully support out troops, but no progress is happening, and more are dying. Definately time for a new direction.

I think that when the war started it may have been for good and moral reasons but now I feel like we've been lied to, and that we're continually being lied to, and I no longer support the war. I support all of the men and women who serve this country and are doing their job, just not the man making the decisions.

I fully support the war on terror, wherever that may be. I think we have the best military in the world that are working under extraordinarily hard conditions. I hate that Americans and innocent Iraqis are dying, but that is the work of the terrorists and not the USA or our President. Should changes be made? Yes. If the terrorists can fight out of mosques, why can't we go fight in them? They have no respect and we've tried to be respectful, but we can't continue that way if the cost is more lives lost. My biggest problem is the way people are divided over this issue. That should never have happened. Stand behind your President, our troops and America.

It makes me angry just thinking about it. I strongly opposed the war before it happened, and my position remains mostly the same. Kicked off on false premises, the war was spoon-fed to a cowed American public still reeling from the shock of 9/11, which incidentally was carried out predominantly by Saudis. Not one of the hijackers was from Iraq or Afghanistan.

One question I asked rhetorically before the war started was, what would it take for GW to say, "Ok, my bad. We're not going to invade Iraq." Flawless weapons inspections by UN-approved parties? The answer is nothing as the administration kept changing the rules without ever seriously considering any diplomatic solutions. First it was WMDs, and then the rationale became promoting democracy. We invaded a sovereign country run by an unquestionably evil dictator (whom we and the UK supported in the past when it suited our purposes), and in doing so, caused the deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians (over 100,000 by some estimates). These include families that loved and simply wanted to live.

I cant say it has directly affected me, I dont know anyone who is serving there. It does affect all Americans though on many different levels. I think people like me who have no direct connection to the war are affected on a psychological level. It is pretty depressing when you see no positive changes coming about and so many people in the world hating our country.

My sons best friend died in Iraq. This boy was at our house everyday from the time he was 13 until he left for Iraq, sometimes staying for a week at a time. I was sad when I got the news. But he died believing he was doing right. We have to support this war even if we don't like it.
