They are proud of the teams accomplishments even though it was long ago. When a team doesn't have many high points, fans tend to dwell on the few that they have.

Ahem! You say that England were World Champions when Celtic won the European Cup in 1967. If you were, you weren't for very long since your so-called "world champions" were soundly beaten, or should that be comprehensively humiliated by three goals to two by Jim Baxter and Co in May of that year. Must be the shortest reign as world champions in history. Hahaha!

As for why they go on about their club's history, that is what every fan of every club will do to show their pride in their team. I am a proud Rangers fan and I am proud to support the club who have won more trophies than any other in the football world.

All the celtic fans I know cling to any sort of success they ever had and have an almost religious devotion to their most talented players which I find a bit unsettling.
Despite the fact that Larsson plays for a completely different team now, they still worship him (in fact all the scottish who were cheering for Sweden when they played England during the last World Cup - you can bet they were all celtic supporters)
And there wasn't a dry seat in the house when I heard some of my celtic-supporting mates talking about Roy Keane's testimonial.

YAWN

Maybe if I didn't support one of their arch enemies I'd be more interested hehe

you always go on about winning 50 league titles and all that crap. anyway i mentioned history because some rangers fan said "look at the history". you're right, lets not mention history ok? lets focus on the here and now.... celtic.... top of the league and through to the final 16 in the champions league. rangers...where are u in the league? how many points behind are you? Lets ponder in the present shall we? How can u say celtic have a bleak future compared to your pish team? some huns are so stupid its funny!

Because if you know your history, it's enough to make your heart go nine in a row.............Oh and also we slaughtered you lot if you can remember, we where the first game you played after that win, so technically Scotland where unofficial World Champions back then.
So I'll just keep my mouth shut.............Cheers
