you cannot get this done free as the network that sold the phone has it locked to their service.You can request an unlatching code from your network and this costs about £35.00 and you need to wait 30 days for this or alternatively you can go into an independant mobile shop and get phone unlocked but be aware that if you do this it invalidates your warranty on your phone.

Don't know about for free, but many places will do it for a fiver (at least in UK).

Do you mean to unlock your phone? If so, you can call Sony and they will give it to you for free.
