I like them both... but, if I had to choose between the two I choose cats. I think people who think cats are "aloof" and un-affectionate are wrong. Personality differences among cats are no reason to write off the entire species. I've known plenty of aloof or un-affectionate dogs as well.
I don't know why I prefer cats over dogs, maybe its just because I've had better and deeper relationships with cats than dogs.

Cats, although I do have a dog right now for my daughter. I think cats are the best because they are so independent and resourceful. We could leave and be gone for a few days(we left food & water) and come home to find a healthy happy cat. Our female was a great hunter!

Dogs are more dependant on you. Now when we leave we have take her with us, find a sitter, or board her. We are pretty much tied to the house a lot more with a dog. We love our "Daisy" and would not part with her for the world. She us a wonderful companion and playmate for our daughter.

But I still prefer cats, they are quiet and sometimes a bit mysterious. Before she died, our cat would bring me "presents" and leave them at the door. She certainly earned her keep!

i personally prefer dogs..a puppy is more of a comapion type and you can always teach them more than a kitten. they can also be walked on a leash and play with more things like frisby and other toys a cat cant. also i believe a dog is always near you a kitten or cat like to do their own thing theres very few that will follow you.

cats,Cats,CATS!!!

I feel, more comfy and securre around them, than I do dogs and the main reason I do, is when a child, I was bit by my Aunt's dog on the upper part of my lip, and have never forgotten that.

Cats. I currently have two. Cats are easier to take care of, and they are more independent.
