I have the same problem, what I do is I paint my nails with a darker nail polish, so when I see the nail polish coming towards my mouth or I taste it coming off, I remember that I'm not suppossed to be biting it. Another thing you can try is getting tips put on, if u try to bite tips they will come off ur nail, so it will stop you from doing it for sure.
PS: I tried those nail polishes that taste disgusting and they didn't work for me at all, I still bit them anyway.

There is a product you can buy at most stores that sell cosmetics. It looks like a clear nail polish and you put it on your fingernails daily. The key is though, that it tastes awful so when your hand goes up to your mouth to bite, you get an instant reminder that you shouldn't be biting your nails. My friend used this product for a couple of months and has now successfully stopped biting her nails.

Nail biting is a sign of deep anxiety. You were traumatized by some person or event, perhaps early in life. Once you are able to revisit and redeem that part of your life with the help of a good trained counselor, you will never have the urge to bite your fingernails again.

first think of everywhere you've put your hands and think about all the germs under your nails that are getting into your mouth anything could be under your nails for an example; viruses, bacteria, leftovers from any and everything you've touched. you can get really sick and your nails wont look to hot either

Use special polish with a disgusting taste. Or start polishing them in a very pretty way, e.g. French manicure - you'd be very frustrated to see that go. You might want to stare at your nails instead of eat them.

i bit my nails and i find that my problem goes away when i get them done then when i finally get sick of them i get them taken off and my nails are really long.but just think about all the bacteria that lives under the nails when u touch something or scratch anything its under there and than your putting that in your mouth. that did the trick for me.

Go to your local drug store and ask for the stuff they have to help kids stop sucking there thumbs. My daughter no longer bites her nails! It works! The name of the product is THUMB and you can find it in most drug stores.

Good Luck

If the nail polish thing doesn't work, try putting cologne on your finger tips. I've heard that tastes pretty bad, too.

i have the same problem...but recently i was able to reduce biting all 10 fingernails down to 3....so 3 out of my 10 nails look horrible...the cause of my fingernail biting was related directly to stress...so when my cause of stress reduced...my nailbiting reduced...now i chew gum to deter me from doing it often....i think i might use the nail polish to experiment and see if it would work...I hope ur nailbiting is curbed sooner than later...
