I was looking at it more from a point of view of recognition by your peers.
Sort of a recognition of your achievements and contribution to the world.

We all have our own personal little successes... but they are only important to us. Some of you will say that... its all that matter. But most of us don't act like it.

We are part of a competitive society and we do spend a great deal of time trying to impress other people by trying to get the best house we can afford and driving the best car we can afford.
People justify their hard work by being able to say "Look at me... I am a success."

For me it is setting a goal and achieving it, whether it be to make a perfect meal, achieve a multiple orgasm, turn out three well behaved children or just to end the day with a smile on my face.

The textbook definition of success is the achievement of something planned or attempted. I think it's so much more than that. But I do think the only way to find BIG SUCCESSES in life is to relish in the small ones. If you don't stop and say, wow, look at what all I've done so far, the appreciation of reaching success is wasted and that's all the fun. And on some level, yes, the things you mention above could be some person's def. of success. Everyone's success is different. What is considered success to one, may be failure to another. So, there are billions of answers to this question, but I hope my point of view helped.

all perceptions, you can be a successful pedophile,or a funeral director,or an athlete,or success full at anything you can desire.
i believe the real measure of success is the length and the quality of your life lived. and the amount of friends who turn up at the funeral may not be the best indicator of success, they may be coming just to make sure you are dead. LF

That depends entirely what a person thinks success means for him/herself. It could be binging a child into this world. Or riches and honor, success in some endeavor. Becoming a beliver, and growing spiritualy..
